Star Wars: The Force Awakens – JJ Abrams collaborated with Lin-Manuel Miranda
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is already going to harken back to the original A New Hope in many ways.

Two of the biggest sensations in pop culture right now are coming together – the hotly-anticipated “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and the hugely popular Broadway musical “Hamilton”.
Abrams then shared how John Williams refused to write music for the scene. Because basically we have a scene that’s sort of our version of the cantina scene.
The Force Awakens writer and director J.J. Abrams revealed to fellow Hamilfan Jimmy Fallon that when he saw the Broadway megahit, Miranda joked that he’d write a new cantina song for his movie. Incredibly, this whole situation happened because Miranda is a huge Star Wars fan and Abrams is a huge Lin-Manuel Miranda fan, so it sounds like the collaboration was a delightful love-fest from beginning to end.
Lin-Manuel Miranda is a brilliant composer, so I’m excited what he and J.J. Abrams have come up with for the cantina scene. That music was composed by John Williams, who famously created the “Star Wars” score. Once Miranda received the email he agreed to drop everything for the scene. In fact, when word got out that Miranda co-wrote Star Wars music, it spawned a Twitter trend called #Force4Ham which paired Star Wars images with Hamilton lyrics.
“He’s such a genius”, Abrams himself said of Miranda during the same interview.

In the clip, Abrams recalls that he met Miranda at intermission during one of the performances of “Hamilton” in which Miranda wasn’t appearing.
