As Cyber Monday grows, Black Friday sees more digital shoppers
Orders grew 14.7% and average order value was up 1.3%, indicating a less promotion-driven Cyber Monday than previous year.

“It’s no longer about one day, but a season of digital deals”, said Matthew Shay, president of retail trade group The National Retail Federation. According to research firm ShopperTrak, sales at retail stores dropped by 10% to $10.4 billion this year, compared to 2014.
That means that consumers spent some $11 billion online from Thanksgiving through yesterday, a 15% year over year increase. Adobe measures 80% of all online transactions from the top 100 USA retailers. Usually, such deals were kept for Cyber Monday, Reuters reported.
The shift to online sales caught Target off guard as online customers were placed in brief holding queues Monday starting about 10 a.m. Eastern time.
Vicki Cantrell, Shop.org executive director and the senior VP of the NRF added that customers can expect an improved mobile shopping experience, which includes the aforementioned improvements to mobile websites, offers for free shipping and updated program to purchase online and then pick up the bought items at physical stores. This year, malls were quieter and crowds were smaller than usual over the Black Friday weekend. 2014 was the first time the state collected sales tax from online retail giant Amazon.
The pre-Christmas discounting weekend is ongoing and United Kingdom retailers are hoping that online Cyber Monday sales will be much better in the United Kingdom than Black Friday as people preferred online shopping last Friday.
Cyber Monday sales hit $2.98 billion which is an increase of 12% over last year’s sales on the same occasion, reports Adobe Digital Index.
And yet online sales Monday were on pace for a record-breaking day, with forecasters from Adobe projecting that $3 billion would be spent online before the deals bonanza was over.
In addition, most of the best Black Friday deals require you to stand in line, as each store tends to have just 20 or 30 of that hot doorbuster item in stock.
But Florida did cut some of their losses past year. “Consumers are also out in full-force looking for great offers”. Despite the looming specter of ad-blockers, display ads saw the largest growth of 50 percent over a year ago in pointing people to sales.
And that could be because shoppers are accessing the websites in more ways than ever before.

But a new report from Adobe shows that online Black Friday sales were still very strong, despite the decrease. And did you shop on Cyber Monday? “Retailers are becoming smarter about getting the brick-and-mortar operations to work with the online business”. Several sources are reporting all-time Cyber Monday highs.
