‘Mario Kart 8’ eSports Special
The eSports special will be a video game tournament focusing on the Nintendo game “Mario Kart 8”.

According to IGN, The game will be featured in a show titled “Clash of Karts: Mario Kart 8” in Disney XD.
Mario Kart 8′ will feature 8 of “America’s best young gamers” (ages range from 13-17), who will be joined by a host of well known Youtube personalities.
The event will mark the second partnership this year between Disney XD and Nintendo, with the latter’s World Championships airing on the former’s station this past September. Plus, Disney XD already aired an hour-long special from the Nintendo World Championships competitive gaming event that took place in June at E3, and that apparently did well enough to warrant more of that programming.
The eSports scene continues to grow and more are wanting a slice of the pie.
Seems like an interesting way of bringing a form of competitive gaming to a younger audience.

But he stressed the importance of taking it slow, saying that “how it’ll be covered for the kids’ audience is still something that remains to be seen”. Watching others play video games is a big thing these days as evidenced by the incredible numbers sites like Twitch pull on a daily basis, and Disney is hoping that if this draws the same type of attention, there could be something more here to work with. ESPN is also hiring esports experts to boost its editorial coverage. Wait, what’s that? Mario Kart 8 is going to be on the Disney XD channel? The game itself actually isn’t bad for competition, whether in direct head-to-head multiplayer races or through time trials and speedruns.
