Pakistan hangs four convicted of Taliban massacre at school

Pakistan executed 4 men on Wednesday. for involvement within the massacre of 134 kids at an army-run school within the northwestern city of Peshawar last yr, media & safety sources stated.

These terrorists included Maulvi Abdus Salam son of Shamsi, Hazrat Ali son of Awal Baz Khan, Mujeeb ur Rehman alias Ali alias Najeeb Ullah son of Gulab Jan and Sabeel alias Yahya son of Atta Ullah.

A prison official also confirmed the executions, saying the militants had held a final meeting with their families on Tuesday night.

The hangings were the first executions of civilians convicted by Pakistan’s military courts, which were set up after the massacre through a constitutional amendment.

The massacre led Pakistani officials to begin a crackdown on militant Islamists, which led to the establishment of military courts to try suspects, including civilians, accused of terrorism. He was found involved in harbouring suicide bombers, later used in the attack on the Army Public School, Peshawar, which resulted in the deaths of 151 persons including 125 children and injuries to 147 persons and damage to govt property. It said they admitted to involvement in previous attacks on military targets, including the 2012 assault on the air force base in Peshawar. The men were tried in a military court and were accused of aiding and abetting militants who were killed during the attack.

The executed convicts were members of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a consortium of different insurgent groups in Pakistan, and had claimed responsibility for the gruesome attack.

“Today’s executions can not return my son to us, but I am happy to know that at least four terrorists have been hanged for their role in the killing of our children”, said one woman. Mujeebur Rehman and Sabeel, however, were found guilty by the military court for attacks on law enforcement agencies and abetment in the attack on the Army Public School.

The terrorists were sent to gallows two days after Chief of Army staff (COAS), Gen. Raheel Sharif signed their black warrants.
