Game of the Day: Warriors at Hornets
The Utah Jazz gave the Golden State Warriors everything they could handle Monday night, but thanks to some last-minute heroics from Stephen Curry, the defending champions extended their historic winning streak to 19 games with a tough 106-103 road victory.

The Golden State Warriors held off the Utah Jazz 106-103 to win their 19th consecutive National Basketball Association game. Where the Warriors can’t lose (even when they’re down 23 points) and setting team records here and there, the Philadelphia 76ers can’t win despite strong performances and are going down in infamy.
Walker notched a double-double but the Hornets were outscored 32-21 in the fourth quarter, giving the Warriors a narrow five-point win.
“I felt like we came out from the beginning of the game and had a defensive mindset”, Bradley said. They pair three wings, led by Gordon Hayward, with their bigs Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert towering the middle.
Westbrook also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out seven assists. So I would say this – I would say certainly Golden State right now is the best team in the league by far and there is no reason to expect them not to remain the best team in the league. One tied the game while the other two gave Golden State a lead.
Wade scored 30 for Miami, which cut a 14-point deficit to one in the fourth quarter but never led after halftime. The Celtics are the only team in the league with more offensive spot-up points than the Warriors and rank top 10 in points per game on offense and defense. Harrison Barnes was out dealing with his injured ankle, Stephen Curry was battling a minor sinus infection and the game was played at an abnormally high altitude, but the contest was still closer than any member of the Warriors would have liked. Things got a little tougher for Charlotte in a win over Milwaukee on Sunday, when center Al Jefferson went down with a calf strain that is expected to keep him out two to three weeks.
Yahoo reported that Curry finished the three three-pointers on the night with forward Brandon Rush with three three-pointers in the third quarter. Ian Clark hit four triples off the bench.
NOTES: The Jazz assigned C Tibor Pleiss, a 7-foot-3 German, to their D-League affiliate, the Idaho Stampede.
The Jazz, who had a recovery day instead of practice Tuesday, were kicking themselves over a few loose ends not named Steph Curry that ultimately allowed a victory over the Warriors to unravel into the team’s eighth loss of the year. “He deserves a lot of credit, because that’s not easy when you don’t play consistently and you get thrown in there to be professional enough to stay ready.”… The Warriors are known for their small-ball lineups. “I think you’ve got to be prepared if a team is taking advantage of a matchup”, Snyder said. That’s a credit to the team’s confidence in its identity as a bruising, interior-focused team at a time when that approach has often been called outdated. “They hit a lot of shots”, Warriors guard Shaun Livingston said.
