Leicester match my ambitions – Vardy
Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy will match the all-time top-flight goal streak record if he scores against Swansea this weekend, but his astounding run needs to continue beyond Saturday if he is to claim the English, or even world, record.

Five years ago Vardy was playing non-league football and juggling his football career with his day job making medical splints in his hometown of Sheffield. However, Chelsea and United would still be keen on signing the player for reasons. I’ve had so many people ringing me up and asking me what it was like because me and Vardy are still friends now.
Vardy eclipsed the previous premier league record set by Ruud Van Nistelrooy which was set across two seasons.
There must have been an element of relief involved too, though, and once United’s Bastian Schweinsteiger had brushed aside the attentions of the relatively diminutive Shinji Okazaki to head home Daley Blind’s corner just before half-time, Ranieri’s team struggled to create any sort of momentum. I am over the moon with what has happened but I think it shows collectively how well the team is doing as well. “It’s a no-brainer to give those ones a chance and with Jamie’s -success I think you will see them have more of a wider look in the non-league region”.
The Midlands outfit have only lost one game all season so far, and the quality of their attacking play means that they have been a threat to every side they have faced.
Vardy has enjoyed a remarkable rise since playing in non-league for Fleetwood Town as recently as 2012, and he believes there is plenty more talent waiting to be discovered below the Premier League.
“Jamie is such a laid-back character. Results are important, the style of play might not be everyone’s cup of tea, however I do think they are one or two players away from being a team who could easily win the league”.
‘If I can keep the performances up for the rest of the season, then I am putting myself in with a good shout.
Vardy seemed to take the occasion in his stride.

“I’m sure it will pop up on my Twitter feed when I look at my phone (on Sunday) because I don’t really want to today, it will just be going off and off and off”. “The main thing is the team”. “If there’s a few words which are unacceptable I’ll just have to leave it in the wardrobe”.
