Unfortunately, Rory McIlroy will not be able to defend his 2014 title at the British Open next week thanks to a broken ankle!

Tiger Woods has revealed Rory McIlroy sought advice from him after the football accident which has prevented the world No1 from defending the Open Championship that starts on Thursday. The Old Course is steeped in history, with some of the most memorable moments in golf, including Constantino Rocca holing a putt through the Valley of Sin; Seve Ballesteros’ triumphant celebration on the 18th green and Tiger Woods not playing a single one of its 112 famous bunkers in his 2000 win.
Azinger’s somber pronouncement stood in stark contrast to the lighthearted way in which McIlroy announced that the ruptured ligaments he sustained in his left ankle while playing soccer on July 4 had forced him out of the Open Championship lineup. He was hopeful that he would recover in time for The Open, but decided two days later it was not worth risking a full recovery.
There are many that say that you must continue to live your life regardless of your occupation, and for the most part I agree. With the points that I have, if Rory hadn’t played the way he’s played over the last couple years I think I would have been No.1.
“His golf IQ is very high”, Chamblee said. As the professional game took over, Palmer cooked up the idea of a modern slam when he came over to St. Andrews for the first time in 1960 as the Masters and U.S. Open champion.
The third-place finish secured the second of three spots available for entry into the Open – at which Van Zyl will make his debut.
The world No7, who will take on the mantle of leading home hope after the withdrawal of Rory McIlroy, believes Federer’s unflappable demeanour is just what is required for the capricious bounces of links golf.
He also is the defending champion in the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone on August 6-9, and the PGA Championship the following week at Whistling Straits.
With McIlroy out, Jordan Spieth is now the clear favorite to win his third major in 2015.
The Open is obviously being contended by more than 2 players; approximately 150 players will be in attendance from regional and qualifying sites all over the world, including Austrailia, Thailand, South Africa, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. “We will go to St. Andrews looking to win the Claret Jug”, Spieth said.
Jordan Spieth signs autographs for fans after the first round of the John Deere Classic. Everybody does. It’s unlucky, it’s unfortunate and I’m sure he’s taking it harder on himself than anybody else. That’s why I love spear fishing, free diving. “What surfaced was like a 12-foot long, 300-pound black tip shark that had eaten this tuna and then had hooked itself, so I guess I caught both in one because I got that shark”.
“I marvel at the fact that he’s 21 years old”, adds ESPN’s Curtis unusual. “I have one of these at my house, and certainly there’s room for another”. He tied for third that year.

The entertaining round saw the American comeback from eight shots off the pace to snatch a two stroke lead going into the final day at TPC Deere Run in Illinois. “I’m really excited about what can happen over the summer”.
