The EFCC had already arrested Raymond Dokpesi, former governor Attahiru Bafarawa and his son, Sagir, former minister, Bashir Yuguda, as well as the son of a former minister of defence, Bello Haliru, in connection with the probe.

He is the second individual to be arrested by the EFCC in connection with the ongoing trial.

He said: “I am not aware the chief collected any money”.

“No one knew what they discussed with him before he followed them in one of their operational SUVs, but it is apparent they want to question him on some things”.

Dasuki’s arrest Tuesday comes on the heels of the arrests Monday of some of his associates by Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Another source at the commission said if the SSS insists on not releasing him, operatives of the EFCC might go to the SSS’ office to interrogate the former NSA.

Since the beginning of last week, many officials who had served under Dasuki were being quizzed by the EFCC investigators.

Earlier, Chief Mike Ozekhom, lawyer to the media mogul had denied reports that his client was arrested by the EFCC.

“The former NSA [national security adviser] was arrested this morning”.

Buhari previously ordered the arrest of Dasuki following his indictment by a panel that investigated arms deals under Jonathan’s administration.
