Jamie Vardy determined to keep up goalscoring form as Leicester

The career trajectory of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is the stuff of dreams…or Hollywood movies, and the latter is exactly where his story is being talked about right now, with film-maker Adrian Butchart considering making a film about the Englishman’s meteoric rise.

“I hope this record keeps on for a long time and we are very proud about it. All his team-mates helped him to achieve it”. He finished the season with 46 league goals, as Barcelona – under Tito Vilanova – racked up 100 points and won La Liga by 15 points from Real Madrid.

To every single person that has supported me and never doubted me…Thank you…I’m still pinching myself!

“There is so much competition and this club is always seeking the best players, so I think you have got that drive to make sure that you deserve your place in the team”.

Manchester United’s poor form, and poor performances, continued as the drew 1-1 with Leicester City in the Premier League at the King Power Stadium.

“It’s unbelievable”, said Vardy, who was playing non-league soccer four seasons ago and wasn’t even a regular starter for Leicester last season.

“Yes, Leicester match my ambitions”, Vardy, who has two-and-a-half years remaining on his City contract, told Sky Sports “I think the gaffer has come in and told the owners what he wants to do, and he wants to keep progressing”.

Will Jamie Vardy still be having a part after these?

“I’ve just been keeping my head down this week, not letting it sink in my head and just concentrate”, Vardy said.

Today they lie in second, level on points with leaders Manchester City, whose 3-1 defeat of Southampton puts them top on goal difference.

Smalling also began in non-league football, playing for Maidstone before moving to Fulham and then to Old Trafford in 2010.

Diego Costa and Wayne Rooney have had contrasting fortunes to that of Vardy and Kane this season, as they’re really struggling to find the back of the net. Vardy’s goal came on a counter-attack from a United corner and he added: “We have a lot of pace in the team and counter-attacking is a big advantage for us”.

Smalling Clubs should look at more non-league players like Vardy
