Coach Mike Pettine said McCown will not need surgery, but described his injury as “the worst-possible scenario”. “He will miss the remainder of the season with a fracture to his collarbone. That’s very unfortunate. Josh means a lot to this team”.

McCown was signed to a three-year deal to stabilize Cleveland’s wobbly quarterback situation.
Manziel was recently stripped of his starting job by Pettine after a video surfaced of the second-year quarterback partying in Texas during the team’s bye week.
Pettine emphasized that there will be a time this season that Manziel will be back on the field.
“I don’t want to get into punishment and length of it”, he said.
“I’m not on an island when I make these decisions”, Pettine said. Many felt that Austin Davis would have been given the nod since he looked pretty solid in replacing McCown.
McCown’s quarterback rating is 93.3. Crowell is averaging just 2.9 yards per carry and has only scored one touchdown this season. McCown played better this season than his 1-7 record as a starter suggests. He received a two-year contract extension from the Browns worth $4.137 million and has $600,000 in guarantees.
Pettine is only committing to Davis, would went 3-5 in eight starts for St. Louis last season, as his starter for this week.

After McCown left Monday’s game due to injury, Davis came in and kept the Browns’ chance of winning alive. “Commendable to him for paying attention to the gameplan, when his number was called, being able to answer it”. Although Davis entered the fray on Monday, it is anticipated that Manziel will get the start and will lead the Browns down the stretch.
The Cincinnati Bengals will be facing a new starting quarterback this week when they head to Cleveland to take on the Browns in Round 2 of the Battle of Ohio.
