Donald Trump Takes on the PC Movement

Their big fear is that the name “Trump” on the top of the ticket will cause GOP voters to defect or sit at home and that Republicans in other races, from the Senate on down, will lose as a result.

Baker concludes the memo with a section titled, “Covering the Trump Bet”, which seems to throw cold water on the conventional wisdom that Trump will eventually fade. “Trump doesn’t need foreigners, or foreign governments, or George Soros, or the United Auto Workers, or the teachers’ union, or the Service Employees International Union, or the Bar Association to fund his campaign”. “Understand the populist point Trump makes and ride that wave”. “Trump can ruin everything for the bribed politicians and their spoiled slave masters”, he said. This shows the conundrum the GOP is in: in grappling with Trump, it does not have many new tools at its disposal. As Rachel noted on the show last night, there have been previous efforts launched by other Republican presidential hopefuls, but none has had any meaningful effect. The donors are upset with Trump’s comments about illegal aliens and radical Muslims.

McCain also found fault with Trump’s actions.

It’s interesting to consider Donald Trump through the prism of the current political correctness (PC) movement.

The Super PAC is being called A New Day for America, and is supporting Ohio’s Governor John Kasich for POTUS.

“Conservatives who insisted during the primary they could never support him would see in their nominee a different, more sober and thoughtful figure than the demagogue they had lambasted months before”, Mr. Chait writes. He warns that, if Trump becomes the nominee, attacking him “will ensure that the GOP vote is depressed”. The first bullet point in the document refers to the celebrity real estate mogul as a “misguided missile”. Check out the Trump clip and the Kasich ad below. All the other candidates have gone with the modern PC strategy of focus groups and poll-tested language, and endless practice sessions of memorizing their lines, like actors in a play, and Trump does none of that. Why don’t they spend their millions of donations on Hillary Clinton instead of against Republicans? “I thought he’d be a great cheerleader for the country, that’s one thing I thought”.

Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks did not respond to a request for comment. That is in contrast with 63 % of GOP voters who allege this about Marco Rubio, 59 % who allege it about Ted Cruz & 55 % who allege it about Ben Carson. The RINOs failed to forcefully confront Obamacare, and neglected to secure US borders, but they have boldly endeavored to put the kibosh on their own frontrunner’s face for the White House.

Later, Trump pledged to visit Philadelphia and speak to the black community.
