Warriors overcome 23-point deficit to extend streak to 13

But it was a close-run win, as the pumped-up Clippers raced to a big lead over their Pacific Division rivals, led by point guard Chris Paul.

It was simply awesome to hear the life being sucked out of the Staples Center as it slowly became apparent that the Warriors were rallying and eventually were going to win. Chicago jumped out to a 11-point lead midway through the opening quarter. Golden State’s bench then proceeded to take the lead as they outplayed the Chicago bench in the first half. Their 41 points in the first were the most in a quarter and their 68 points were the most in a half this season…. There were 13 lead changes and 15 ties. But Curry came back with a nice under-the-rim drive and rolled the ball across his fingertips and through the net for two, the score 94-89 with barely more than three minutes left. It was heading into crunch time and the Warriors took control. “Every team had 2 or 3 superstars on every team … like I said today’s game is just a totally different game”. Thompson made the 3-pointer possible with his hustle for an offensive rebound. They cooled a bit in the second quarter, though tempers flared a bit when DeAndre Jordan and Doc Rivers picked up technical fouls for complaining, Rivers’ technical coming after he was angry about Andrew Bogut having pushed Paul to the court.

“It just shows the resiliency of this team on the road against a good Clippers team down 23 to never feel like we’re out of it, fight our way back”, Curry said. That means that group of terror finished the game on a 14-5 run, with Harrison Barnes providing the juice on offense with two dagger three-pointers. “When it’s winning time, it’s incredible how well our guys rise to the occasion and bring home the win”. But don’t expect to see the lineup earlier. “Telling me to make plays”.

“Well, we’ve gotta keep working on it”, Rivers said, when asked about closing out games. “If we’ve got a chance to do it, why not?”

The Warriors extended their franchise-record win streak to 18 and home win streak to 26.

The Warriors improved to 13-0 on the season after overcoming 23-point second-quarter deficit to beat the Clippers in Los Angeles on Thursday; that is the biggest comeback victory by any team in 2015-16.

The record is 15 by two teams (most recently the 1993-1994 Rockets), and if the Warriors can defeat the Bulls at home tonight, the only teams standing between Golden State and history are Denver (Sunday) and the Lakers (Tuesday).
