Tiger Woods has some good years left out of him: Jordan Spieth

Adam Scott, the only Australian in the field, tied with Jordan Spieth for runner-up position last week and is still looking for his first victory of the year.

The 18-man field, which does not include injured host Tiger Woods, consists only of players from the top 50 in the world ranking.

Those two wins at the end of a year ago served as a springboard to a spectacular season in which Spieth won the Masters and U.S. Open among his five titles, captured the FedEx Cup and its $10 million bonus, swept all the major awards and showed that he can be tough to beat with the lead. He has had a home in Albany the last four years and holds the course record (65). “I think it was past year I remember meeting Tiger in February when he came to India for a day”.

Jordan Spieth speaks during a press conference at the PGA Tour’s Hero World Challenge golf tournament in Albany, Bahamas, Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015. “Again, things still have to fall your way, you have to get the right breaks in the end to win a tournament, and I’ll have plenty where I’m in contention and won’t close it out”.

“I watched him at the PGA at Whistling Straits this year”.

Spieth, who has been paired with Indian ace Anirban Lahiri, is hoping to cap off the year on a high. Sure, he’ll be a bit gassed, but he’s playing very well considering the year he has enjoyed. One of his friends, who’s also a dear friend of mine, Arjun (Atwal), was the first person to say that you’re one of the few guys whose game I think is ready for America. He’s not cheap at $10,000, but he’s over a grand cheaper than Spieth, and a tee-to-green monster who can win if he gets the putter going. “I believe I can get better certainly in different specific parts of my game and I can grow mentally as a player as well”.

There has been much speculation in the days that have followed that Woods will retire from the game, but Spieth is hopeful that is not the case.

“Just the dominance, the way that he was able to bring it in the majors”.

“I would like to thank Mr. Munjal and the Tiger Woods Foundation for having me because these are the kind of events and fields that you want to play against every week and I’m really excited. I think we can all read between the lines there, that he’s I think he’s still got some really good years left out of him”, said Spieth. Said Woods, “To have the field that we have, it’s by far the best we’ve ever had”.
