NBA ROUNDUP: Warriors hold on to improve to 19-0

If the Jazz would’ve played with the focus and energy that they played with against the Warriors in previous games this season, many of their narrow losses would’ve likely turned into victories. “That team is very well coached and they execute and they got those bigs that are a lot to deal with”.

The Golden State Warriors are 19-0 and has a 23-game winning streak dating back from last regular season that they will try to preserve when they visit the Charlotte Hornets at the Time Warner Cable Arena on Wednesday. The reigning MVP and NBA’s leading scorer had 16 points through three quarters as Draymond Green and other teammates did the heavy lifting.

It says something about Golden State that the defending champions were able to withstand that fine effort to improve their record to 19-0. The Jazz have an offense that shares the ball like Golden State, though Gordon Hayward, Rodney Hood and Alec Burks are not quite as consistent with their shooting as the Warriors’ plethora of outside options. They have stepped up defensively, holding their last five opponents to 95 points or fewer. This game went down to the wire and it got me thinking: we could actually see this in the first round in the playoffs.

Warriors: F Harrison Barnes (L ankle sprain) and F Kevon Looney (hip surgery) were on the inactive list. Two Favors free throws gave the Jazz an 88-87 lead after drawing a foul that was the sixth personal for Bogut.

“Outside of a layup or an uncontested shot, that’s a pretty good look”.

The team must pay Webster $2.5 million next season unless he is claimed off waivers, according to The Washington Post. The Celtics are the only team in the league with more offensive spot-up points than the Warriors and rank top 10 in points per game on offense and defense. “When we win, we talk about getting better”, Snyder said. Things got a little tougher for Charlotte in a win over Milwaukee on Sunday, when center Al Jefferson went down with a calf strain that is expected to keep him out two to three weeks. Right now they’re the 7th seeded team in the Western Conference, a spot they don’t plan to give up easily.

Miami played without Dwyane Wade, who was excused for a family emergency.

Yahoo reported that Curry finished the three three-pointers on the night with forward Brandon Rush with three three-pointers in the third quarter.

Reggie Jackson scored 31 points, Andre Drummond had 24 with 13 rebounds and the Pistons (9-9) held off the visiting Rockets. Former Jazz guard Ian Clark hit four triples off the bench…. They played well enough for over 47 minutes to put themselves one possession away from winning, but were ultimately unable to capitalize and close out the game.
