President Barack Obama said authorities do not yet know the motivations of the suspects who opened fire on a holiday party in San Bernardino on Wednesday, saying that it is possible that it was an act of terrorism or workplace violence. Suspects in San Bernardino shooting identified as Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen MalikPolice identified the suspects as 28-year-old Syed Rizwan Farook and 27-year-old Tashfeen Malik.

Farook, who was born in the U.S., worked as an environmental health specialist for San Bernardino County, inspecting restaurants for health violations and public pools at apartment and housing complexes.
Both of them were killed in a shootout with police after the mass shooting that killed 14 people in California.

San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said in a televised news briefing earlier that as many as three suspects were believed to have made their getaway in a dark-coloured sport utility vehicle. Malik’s nationality was unclear.
According to Farrok’s family the female suspect killed in the shootout was his wife.
As reported by the Los Angeles Times on December 2, Patrick Baccari, a fellow inspector who shared a cubicle with Farook, said that “the couple had been married for two years”.
Burguan confirmed that Farook was present at the event.
Farhan Khan told NBC News that his brother-in-law Farook and wife left their baby girl with with Farook’s mother on Wednesday, claiming they they had a doctor’s appointment. Burguan said he knew of no possible motive behind the attack.
He added the reserved Farook, who grew out his beard a few months ago, showed no signs of unusual behavior prior to last night’s shooting. The ATF said two rifles and two handguns were recovered in their investigation and officials are working to trace the serial numbers on the weapons.

He said the attackers left explosive devices behind and authorities were only able to access the scene of the crime several hours after the shooting.
