Over 140 turkeys and 30 pans of stuffing are prepped for visitors, and for the near 1,000 meals that are delivered to homes.
Last year, the campaign raised $29,113.10 that served 200 families with different expenses like rent and utility assistance.
“We’re still alive- I mean seriously”, he said.
People in the community donated 50 turkeys and the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts in Hatfield provided pounds of chicken and other food, Nancy Garces said, with her daughter translating.
Captain Jimmy Steele with the Salvation Army talked about how donations to the Red Kettles help our community.
In all, The Salvation Army of Woodland will assist 65 families this Christmas season with food boxes and new toys.
The Salvation Army says there is a desperate need for donated toys, especially for teens.
Thanksgiving meals are being offered around Mobile and Baldwin Counties on Thanksgiving Day. Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes was there serving up dinner and said, “We have given back to the folks in this community. To get to that goal, we need bell ringers”, said Esmeralda Casas, the Salvation Army spokeswoman.
“Unfortunately, there are more families in need”, explained Lieutenant Peter Kim with the Salvation Army.
“They’re like family here to me and I want to wish them all a happy holiday”, says Lee Delancey.

For Danielle, and 235 more families in Minot, the holiday dedicated to giving thanks is going to be a little bit more memorable this year. “We’re also having fun doing it”, said Alissa Omelia.
