Mark Hamill surprises Star Wars fans dressed as a stormtrooper

British actors such as Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ed Westwick and Tom Felton have auditioned to play the young Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars spin-off.

The collaboration with Google is an extension of Verizon’s “Force of a Better Network” program, which provides fans with insider access to Star Wars: The Force Awakens content. Verizon is also an official partner of the film.

“I thought it was a great idea and I wanted to know a little bit more about Han Solo 30 years later”, revealed the Award winning actor.

Now in its final hours, the Omaze campaign offers fans who donate $10 or more a chance to win a trip to the red-carpet premiere of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.

“A little bit more of an emotional context than perhaps there was before”.

More than 2,500 actors between the ages of 18 and 32 have thrown their names in the hat for the part, which was originally played by Harrison Ford in the first Star Wars trilogy and the new film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “But he’s still – he’s still the same guy”, Ford said in a television show.

Han Solo first appeared in the first “Star Wars” movie in 1977, but is actually the fourth in the series.

The Google and Star Wars collaboration rumbles on ahead of the launch of The Force Awakens later this month, with the technology firm unveiling special versions of their Google Cardboard virtual reality headset.
