“Potential, like sweet nectar & bitter medicine takes time to show its real benefit”, Tejashwi wrote on his Twitter account.

In another message on the micro blogging site Twitter, he said, “Cynic, biased ones with vested interest will always be dismissive but stakeholders-people of Bihar-will reap fruits – trust shown in youth”. Tejashwi’s appointment as the deputy CM despite being a debutant MLA has raised many eyebrows even though JD (U) leaders tried to brush it off as a “coalition compulsion”.

The opposition BJP which had launched a strong attack on RJD president and Tejaswi ” s father, Lalu Prasad Yadav during the election campaign and suffered electorally because of it, also stayed away from attacking Tejaswi. Roads were built at a great speed during the previous tenure of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Tejaswi Yadav was allocated the portfolios of PWD, forest and environment.

The appointment of Tejaswi Yadav, Lalu’s younger son, as the deputy Chief Minister instead of more experienced leaders of the RJD had triggered a barrage of criticism especially on social media. Both Tejaswi and Tej Patap are first time lawmakers.

Emerging from the meeting, Tejaswi told reporters, “Whatever responsibilty has been entrusted to us we will fullfill it without any interest”.

On Sunday, Tejaswi had taken on his detractors, asking them “not to judge a book by its cover” and vowed to increase the value of “Brand Bihar” so that Nitish feels “proud” of him. This duty is not for fun but for work.

Other RJD leaders who found a place in the new Cabinet are Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Abdul Gafoor, Vijay Prakash, Chandrika Rai, Alok Kumar Mehta, Ram Vichar Rai, Sheo Chander Ram, Muneshwar Chaudhary, Dr. Chandrashekhar and Anita Devi.

The new Deputy CM also promised, “The public has given us a big mandate…I assure them that we will work with honesty and I want to instruct my officials that there will be a big focus on honesty; corruption will not be tolerated at all”.
