Tiger Woods opens up on failed marriage, future in golf

Spieth, 22, idiolises the 14-time Major victor and believes there must be more to Woods’ words on contentment with what he has achieved and his tough looking road to recovery.

Tiger Woods has opened up about his “fantastic” relationship with his ex-wife and expressed his desire to continue playing golf at the highest level in a rare and extensive interview with Time. His last major victory was, altogether now, the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines. Really good. I swear, that’s basically how I pass a lot of my time.

“I walk. And I walk…”

Tiger also clarified that while he doesn’t want to stop playing golf, he also dearly values time with his children. That’s how I want it to be, and that’s how I am. But if it does, it does. “I really do miss it”. They were married from 2004 until 2010, months after his infidelity with multiple mistresses led to divorce.

“If I was a betting man, my money would be on him sitting on a buggy and not having his clubs anywhere near Hazeltine, not just on fitness but on form as well”, says BBC golf correspondent, Iain Carter. “She’s one of my best friends”, he told Time magazine.

“We’re able to pick up the phone, and we talk to each other all the time”. “I think pretty much everything beyond this will be gravy”. But I’m hoping that’s not it. I’m hoping that I can get back out here and compete against these guys.

All good things come to an end, of course, but few suspected Woods would crash and burn while still in his 30s.

“I have no answer to that, and neither do my surgeon or physios”. “I want it to come from me so that when they come of age, I’ll just tell them the real story”.

“OK, here’s the major misconception that people have all gotten wrong”, Woods said. “It was doing an injustice to both of us”.

“That’s a hard mind-set to go through”.

“If I can get to that, then we can start talking about golf”, he said.

Golf lovers around the world were left open-mouthed at the sight of this once great champion hacking, hooking and slicing his way through the same tournaments he used to win with his eyes closed. Six weeks after the September surgery in Utah, Woods has a follow-up procedure done to alleviate some complications. But on Tuesday he said he doesn’t know if he’ll even be able to swing a club by next fall. I think we can all read between the lines there, that he’s…

“I will probably play through a little bit of pain; as you get older, you have more aches and pains”. I am not even delving into his money titles, Player of the Year awards, and Vardon Trophies, nor his spectacular amateur career, or how he transcended the sport of golf like no other since Arnold Palmer. “Four knees, three backs, that’s enough”.

Tiger Woods on Wednesday said that Anirban Lahiri can make the game'explode in the Indian market by winning a medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics
