California suspects had hundreds of rounds of ammunition when killed

San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said at a news conference Thursday that the attackers also left a device at the social service center where they opened fire. A black vehicle parked outside was also searched. A bomb squad on Wednesday swept the home with robots. Investigators didn’t immediately say if the couple had lived there. Residents told KABC-TV Redlands is a sleepy town and expressed shock that the killers might be their neighbors.

“I think that what we have seen and how they were equipped, there had to be some kind of planning in this”, Burguan said. Farook had attended the event but slipped out and returned in battle dress.

But San Bernardino police say they believe Farook and Malik were the only shooters involved in the Inland Regional Center massacre.

His co-workers described him as a quiet character that was polite but rarely engaged in conversations.

Farook and Malik first met online and started talking before Farook travelled to visit her in Saudi Arabia two years ago.

Federal officials in Los Angeles and elsewhere in the nation tried today to uncover the motive for the attack and determine if there was an worldwide terrorism component or if it should be regarded strictly as workplace violence. He did not elaborate.

Mr. Farook inspected restaurants, bakeries and public swimming pools for the county department, according to inspection reports. The chief said he doesn’t know where the child is now. Khan said in a press conference held by the Council on American-Islamic Relations he had not spoken to Farook for a week or so.

Television news helicopters captured the aftermath, as officers slowly approached the mangled SUV.

“People shot. In the office waiting for cops”.

“It was a picture of her with a half-smile”, her son said. “I’ll take a bullet before you do, that’s for damn sure”. “And that was it”.

Terry Petit said his daughter works at the center, and he got a text from her saying she was hiding in the building after hearing gunshots. She alleged that same year that her husband attacked her while her kids were present, dropped a TV on her and pushed her toward a auto. According to the New York Times, Inland Regional employs 670 staff members and serves more than 30,200 people.

Meanwhile, firefighters set up a triage center on the S. Waterman Ave. where they were treating the wounded on the street.

Authorities said the shooting rampage killed multiple people and wounded others. Ten were hospitalized in critical condition, and three in serious condition, Fire Chief Tom Hannemann said.

“We condemn this horrific and revolting attack and offer our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of all those killed or injured”, Ayloush said. “Workplace attacks are a lot more spontaneous, they’re not planned their not premeditated, they normal involve one person, they never involve pipe bombs”.

San Bernardino is about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.

Police officers on the local scanner said that a man with an orange shirt fled into business complex, with officers in pursuit.

Reisinger said she heard that the office recently threw a baby shower for Farook and that he had taken paternity leave. One officer was injured.

Agents from Homeland Security Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also responded to the shooting. Authorities, however, were still examining a potential explosive device found at the scene of the shooting.

After other mass shootings, Obama has denounced Republican opposition to the stricter laws, but the White House has not offered strategies to renew the legislative push.
