Dave Navarro, guitarist and member of Jane’s Addiction, tweeted at 9:01 p.m. PST “our friend Scott Weiland has died”. “So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight”, Dave tweeted. STP broke up in 2002 wherein Weiland formed the superband Velvet Revolver, which he fronted for five years before reuniting with STP in 2008 along with pursuing other projects. He rose to prominence in the early Nineties as the frontman for Stone Temple Pilots, who scored big hits with songs like “Plush”, “Creep”, “Big Empty”, “Vasoline” and “Interstate Love Song”. Weiland was forty-eight years old and has suffered from substance issues for many years, but it isn’t known if that played a role in his death.
