Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey took the stage at The Game Awards earlier tonight to announce a virtual reality version of Rock Band. Yep.

Rock Band VR has been announced to be released in 2016 along with the Oculus Rift.

This story is breaking. The game will likely be available for purchase in the first quarter of 2016. Back during E3 this year, Oculus also announced Harmonix as one of their partners, which also included Square Enix and Insomniac Games. The video also shows how the Harmonix team learned how to be real rockstars, from the real band Dragonforce, the real global superstars themselves – see below.

Harmonix has been working on something called Rock Band VR, which we assume is a PC game. It hasn’t been shown how gamers will be able to look at notes ahead of time, as the video only shows frets on the guitar lighting up as they are pressed by the player.

There was a little bit of gameplay footage that was revealed on Rock Band VR.
