The Rimington Trophy, named for two-time Outland Trophy victor Dave Rimington of Nebraska, is presented annually to the Most Outstanding Center in NCAA Division I-A College Football. The fourteen-year old award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised more than $115 million toward research. No Syracuse player has won since it was first awarded in 2000.

A versatile lineman, Mangiro has played all over the offensive line.

Colorado State and Virginia Tech are the only two teams with a pair of tight ends placed on the Mackey watch list. However, his main position is center, making 10 starts there last season.

This is the third-straight season the Longhorns have a player on the Rimington preseason list. He is the top returnee for a strong tight end group after making 16 receptions for 153 yards last season. He caught the game-tying touchdown in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, leading to a Nittany Lion victory. He also started nine games at right guard a year ago.

Beamish, a 6-foot-3, 310-pound senior-to-be from Riverview, is one of 63 centers nationwide, including seven representing Mid-American Conference schools, named to the list.

The finalists for the Remington Trophy will be announced on December 7th.
