Although she is arguably best-known for entertaining fans in the Netflix comedy series Orange Is the New Black, actress Dascha Polanco now faces high stakes drama in the real world’s criminal justice system.

The actress was arrested back in July after allegedly punching Michelle Cardona in the head three times, pulling her hair and scratching her arms.
Lefcourt claims that Cardona’s allegations are trumped up, and were motivated by a desire to extort money from Polanco.

‘This young woman was trying to extort her to drop the case. “The District Attorney has the tapes, and we expect this case to be dismissed”. A 2013 profile of Polanco indicates she has a bachelor’s degree in psychology, but she also attended nursing school. Her work schedule prevented her from appearing that day, so her arraignment was postponed until December 3, which is coincidentally the actress’ 33rd birthday.

He even reveals that there are recordings of the teen apparently blackmailing Dascha, in which she promises to make the complaint go away as long as the star coughs up some dough. Her next court appearance is scheduled for January.
