Android Loses the Battle with iPhone Once Again

Apple spoke out on the problem earlier this month, attempting to defend itself by saying: “WiFi Assist won’t automatically switch to cellular if you’re data roaming; WiFi Assist only works when you have apps running in the foreground”. The rate also shows how many existing iPhone users chose to upgrade to the new, larger iPhones past year.

This adoption rate is actually a bit higher than the adoption rate for iOS 8 this time previous year.

iOS 9 adoption rates, although now slowed down, still showcase the biggest weakness of Google’s ecosystem for Android.

Less than three months after launch, 70% of Apple devices are now using iOS 9.

With the release of iOS 9, Apple was able to improve a great deal of the user experience and overall performance of the OS. Apple issues iOS updates to iPhone and iPad owners straight from its servers, prompting and reminding people to install the latest update.

If Safari isn’t exactly your cup of tea, but you’re drooling over 3D Touch support in your browser, this is probably the best news for you today: Google has just updated Chrome browser on iOS, and among the new features, there’s also support for Apple’s signature 3D Touch feature. For iOS 9, Apple focused on making the update size small and stability improvements.

Adoption rates for Marshmallow were running at 0.3%, while versions 5.0 and 5.1 of Lollipop were 15.5% and 10.1%, respectively.

This is the largest percentage of Android switchers ever. Back in 2014 with the release of iOS 8, it only managed to hit the 60% mark towards the end of November.

Of course, there’s also ‘datagate‘, which saw some iPhone users exceed their monthly allowance and run up huge phone bills owing to Apple’s controversial WiFi Assist feature. Importantly, in the most recent launch, the percent of new model buyers opting for the Plus model increased measurably over the 6/6 Plus launch.
