Winfrey inked a deal with Flatiron Books, an imprint of Macmillan. She was a co-producer of the film Selma and regularly publishes the magazine, O, The Oprah Magazine.
Winfrey’s entry into publishing, an industry in which she has wielded enormous influence through her book club, marks her latest effort to expand her media empire following the end of her talk show in 2011. “And I named him Canaan because Canaan means new land, new life”, said Winfrey about her son whom she gave birth and lost as a teenager, reported People.
