Unemployment rate drops in October in LA County
The drop was fueled largely by New York City, which saw its unemployment rate drop from 5.2 percent in September to 4.8 percent last month. The McAllen-Edinburg-Mission area had the highest jobless rate in Texas at 7.4 percent.

The claims data covered the survey period for the nonfarm payrolls portion of the November employment report.
The City of Lufkin went from a 5.3 percent jobless rate in September to 5.9 percent in October.
The federal survey of households, done with a smaller sample than the survey of employers, shows an increase in the number of employed people.
Although the number of employed in Solano County increased from 195,200 in September to 195,900 in October, the workforce also grew – increasing from 206,000 in September to 207,500 in October, according to the Employment Development Department figures.
