The father-of-two was married to his third wife, photographer Jamie Wachtel Weiland, who confirmed his death, telling a newspaper, “I can’t deal with this right now”.

“Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died”, Navarro tweeted.

Meanwhile, members of the rock band Stone Temple Pilots issued a statement through a spokeswoman on the death of their former lead singer, who had been on tour with his new band, the Wildabouts. “So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight”.

Weiland was a talented, eccentric frontman who rose to fame with the Grammy-winning Stone Temple Pilots in the early 90s on the strength of hits like “Interstate Love Song” and “Vasoline”. Most recently, he had released his first record with a new project called The Wildabouts, which he was touring to promote at the time of his death.

STP reunited in 2008 and Weiland was with them until 2013, when his personal issues became too great and the band fired him.

TMZ broke the news Friday morning that Weiland was found dead on his tour bus in Bloomington, Minnesota. They also found coke in the room where Weiland, 48, was found.

Scott Weiland, the former frontman for the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, has died.

“The memories are many, and they run deep for us. You were gifted beyond words”. The band released two albums, Contraband in 2004 and Libertad in 2007. Guitarist Jeremy Brown, 34, died of multiple-drug intoxication March 30, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported.

Black, 47, of Studio City, California, was arrested and will be charged with possession of a controlled substance, Bloomington police said.
