In an interview with CBS News, a former coworker of San Bernardino shooting suspect Syed Farook said he blamed Farook’s radicalization on his wife Tashfeen Malik.
The FBI officially confirmed Friday the San Bernardino, California, shootings were being investigated as an act of terrorism.
David Bowdich, assistant director of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, said the couple behind the “horrific” attack tried to destroy evidence, including crushing two mobile phones.
Times reporter Rukmini Callimachi noted on Twitter that ISIS has “made clear that those wishing to act in its name need to swear allegiance” before an attack is carried out.
“At this point we believe they were more self-radicalized and inspired by the group than actually told to do the shooting”, one official told the Times.

Crews were given access by the landlord to the Redlands apartment rented by Syed Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik, who lived there with their six-month-old baby daughter. Malik was a Pakistani woman who came to the U.S.in 2014 on a fiancee visa before Farook married her in California. All the four guns found at their home was purchased legally, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.

US Media reported that Farook was a US citizen and had worked at the Inland Regional Center for some five years.
The couple had more than 1,600 bullets on them when they were killed in the shootout. Farook communicated with individuals who were under FBI scrutiny in connection with a terrorism investigation.
Two weeks ago, with Americans on edge over the Islamic State attacks in Paris that left 130 people dead, FBI Director James Comey said that authorities had no specific or credible intelligence pointing to an attack on American soil.
In the wake of Wednesday’s attack, investigators discovered that Farook and Malik had amassed thousands of rounds of ammunition and bomb-making materials at their home. Farook and Malik were killed, and two officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the confrontation.
