We’re told Rebecca Lillian-Kay Hardy was in the 1700 block of 10th Street when she entered a fenced-in yard around 4 p.m.
A dog is led from a 10th Street home Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, after an attack that left a female victim with extensive injuries.
A pit bull and a pit bull-husky mix were taken to a St. Clair County shelter, where they were quarantined, after the attack on Hardy, Lt. Scott Pike said.
Both dogs are believed to have been involved in the attack.
Police said in a statement that a pit bull attacked Hardy when she went into the backyard, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Pike said the owner was cooperative and was not taken into custody.
Port Huron is approximately 60 miles northeast of Detroit.
“Nobody was there. Nobody knows what happened and why”, Grattan told the Times Herald in Port Huron (http://on.freep.com/1HLAt6W ).
“It was horrific in terms of her injuries”, Reaves said.
Barbara Buffington lives a couple of doors down on 10th Street.
Police are shown at the marked off scene following the attack. “I just sat on the couch and watched everything”.
“It’s so close to home”.
The animals are now in the hands of the Port Huron Police Animal Control Officer.
