Lakers: Kobe Told Byron Scott About Retirement Mid-Game
To an entire generation of NBA fans, you are basketball. “We had the one winning streak but other than that we’ve just been game to game”. Dwyane said no, as it was a school night, and Kobe said, ‘you know what, bring them, I think it’s going to be my last time here.’ Dwyane brought the boys, they got a lifetime memory after the game taking pictures with Kobe, and the Wade family got a little sneak-preview of Kobe’s retirement announcement before anyone else. The Hawks, though, outscored the Lakers 13-4 to end the game.

After the game ended, Bryant walked to midcourt to give a smile and a hug to Kyle Korver, a 13th-year veteran, in an exchange of mutual admiration.
Scott was understandably caught off guard and says Bryant delivered the news rather bluntly. We’ve discussed his legacy and even taken a trip down memory lane with some of his greatest “Atlanta” moments. Walking down the tunnel and so forth.
April 12, 2013, it was game 80 of 82 of the season, after hyperextending his knee in the first half Kobe Bryant tore his Achilles in the fourth quarter of a home game against the Golden State Warriors. “I can’t believe I’m saying this… but I’m really going to miss you”.
He showed his age on the next sequence as Sefolosha blocked a shot out of bounds and was defending the arc when Bryant tossed up an air ball from the right side. The Lakers have already beat the Pistons once this season and are looking for a season sweep Sunday.
“He was at peace when he told me”, Scott added.
Budenholzer talked about the special aura of the night before the game to make sure his players were prepared for a Kobe lovefest. “Just to really get to witness it and see it in person”, Russell said, all but shaking his head in wonderment. “We briefly addressed it before the game”.
He would probably prefer to go through his final 30 road games like the ones during his prime, with opposing supporters relentlessly booing him while he lights up the scoreboard for 40 points.
“This is my hometown, so it was nice to be part of Kobe’s last go-around here and see the outpouring for him”, Williams said.
Kobe Bryant announced his retirement earlier this week and many players from around the National Basketball Association have been commenting on his retirement and their experiences with him. It was another game that the Hawks should have won, as that phrase “should have” is becoming the new norm for this team and not in a good way. “I’ve got to cut them down, ‘” Scott said after his team’s morning shootaround ahead of their game against the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena.

The Hawks have offensive threats in Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, Dennis Schroder and former Lakers guard/forward Kent Bazemore.
