Robert Lewis Dear, 57, was accused of killing Swasey and two others, Ke’Arre Marcell and Jennifer Markovsky, after opening fire at the health care clinic on Black Friday.
“I am proud to say my name is Rachel Swasey”. He was originally from Melrose, Massachusetts, and moved to Colorado to train as a champion ice dancer. “Your kindness is an incredible gift to me”, she said.
“The love of my life gave his life without regret, to be sure that others would live”, Rachel Swasey said. The Gazette of Colorado Springs reports that friends and family as well as strangers, including police officers, district attorney Dan May and a woman who said she was a Planned Parenthood patient, paid their respects to Stewart during a visitation there on Thursday night.
After the ceremony, a massive procession made up of hundreds of police cars took the fallen officer’s body from the church to Evergreen Cemetery in south Colorado Springs for burial.
