Passenger plane hits wild boars and careers off runway
Officials said that the aircraft left Mumbai at 5.30 pm and the incident took place at around 7.25 pm, while landing at Jabalpur’s Dumna Airport. Captain of the plane, Amartya Basu has over 10,000 hours of flying experience and that helped in the critical time, a spokesman for SpiceJet said.

The aircraft’s main gear and nose landing gear collapsed, but all the passengers and the crew were safe.
The pilot managed to keep control of the damaged aircraft and steered it off the runway.
The Hindustan Times reported about seven boars were killed and the aircraft was grounded with damage to the its left landing gear and undercarriage.
Passengers of an Indian flight had a narrow escape after their plane veered off the runway after hitting wild boars, a news report said Saturday.
However, all 49 passengers and crew members are safe, according to SpiceJet. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has arranged for surveillance of 20 of India’s airports, due to increased incidence of animal intrusions there.
A passenger plane has crashed during landing, skidding off the runway, after it hit a herd of wild boars.
Three months ago in September, President Pranab Mukhergee’s aircraft ended up in a similar pickle, as a herd of pigs marched on the runway towards the terminal building at Nagpur.
