City were paired with Everton in the draw for the two-legged semi-final of the Capital One Cup.

Pellegrini, who is set to restore goalkeeper Joe Hart to his starting lineup after two weeks out with an ankle injury, said: “I think the best way to do it is not to think about it and stay focused on your next game”.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini will not be rushed into signing another striker in January despite an ongoing injury crisis which threatens his side’s increasingly hectic campaign.

Wilfred Bony helped City take an early lead, converting the rebound after Kevin De Bruyne’s shot from distance hit the post on Tuesday, reports Xinhua.

Wednesday made the biggest splash in the previous round, crushing visitors Arsenal 3-0, but any hope of a repeat at the Britannia Stadium looked faint when Ibrahim Afellay volleyed into the corner on the half-hour for his first Stoke goal.

He ran the game in a way that has become customary since his move to the Premier League in 2010, picking up the ball in pockets of space between the lines and dictating play from there.

“I am very pleased to have qualified in all the competitions”.

Liverpool have faced Stoke five times in their League Cup history, with a record of four wins and one draw.

Vardy can extend his scoring streak to 12 straight Premier League games on Saturday when Leicester plays at Swansea.

Pellegrini is too experienced to make bold proclamations at the start of the December, but he is understandably encouraged by his side’s progress in face of 36 separate injuries to his squad this season, including kep players like Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany. “The squad is big so we need to deal with the players we have”.

“It will be a tough against an important team”.

“I don’t think that he will be fit for Tuesday, maybe for the next weekend, we” ll see. The tie was wrapped up with 15 minutes to play when Phil Bardsley smashed home a low free kick with Stoke reaching their first League Cup semifinal since they won the trophy in 1972.

“In training we have to work tactics and it’s not the most fun thing for the lads but it’s work we have to do especially if you change the system like we did today”.
