Christmas Message Delivered in Chappaqua Church Musical

Following the concert, Dr. Ronny Raines, First Baptist’s pastor, will give a short talk. Formal dinner after service.

For the second consecutive year, Grace Baptist Church in Chappaqua hopes to capture the message of the holiday not only for its parishioners but the wider community as well through a staged production in its sanctuary the next two Saturday nights. It is free, suitable for children and open to anyone.

St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church showcased the Jubilate Ringers, who played classic Christmas hymns and a rendition of “Carol of the Bells”.

Messengers elected Gary Hollingsworth, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock, as ABSC president, and first vice president Sam Roberts, pastor of First Baptist Church in Stuttgart. Speaker: Associate Minister Deloris Henderson, of Dunn Creek Baptist, Ware Shoals.

Music will be provided by the handbell choir and on organ, piano, guitar and trumpet.

– “Messiah” Community Sing-Along, 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, Chattanooga First Seventh-day Adventist Church, 7450 Standifer Gap Road; sing Hndel’s “Messiah” choruses with a chamber orchestra and a children’s choir composed of members of the Chattanooga Girls’ Choir and under the direction of Lonnie McCalister, Lee University’s former dean of music; 605-2468. The Johnston County Chorale will present “A Christmas Celebration” at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at The Clayton Center, 111 E. Second St., Clayton. Worship services will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, and Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. The adult choir will practice for the Christmas cantata at 5 p.m.
