Coldplay to withhold new album from Spotify
Until then, the fact that Coldplay will perform at the Super Bowl is very exciting, especially considering that the band has hinted that “A Head Full of Dreams” may be its last album.

“A Head Full of Dreams” is the follow up to their 2014 spiritually driven “Ghost Stories” which sold over 3.7 million copies that year.
Coldplay are something of a British institution: however much you might be inclined to mock them for their perceived lack of cool, they’re ingrained into our culture. And it is still a Coldplay album – while not as hot as it was in the mid 2000s, the band is still one of the biggest in the world. Their next album, Mylo Zyloto, was also kept from Spotify for about three months, but to make sure that it received attention, they released an audio only video for “Paradise”, which they’ve now done again with “Adventure of a Lifetime”.
Chris Martin of Coldplay sings “Adventure of a Lifetime” during the 2015 American Music Awards in Los Angeles, California November 22, 2015. Rock’s new man Chris Martin has emerged from the wreckage of his break-up with Gwyneth Paltrow as an even newer man – reborn in the light of self-determination and moving ever forward, a bit like a sensitive pop shark. Her primary argument, like many others who have opted not to release music on Spotify, relates to the Swedish music streamer’s alleged cannibalization of album sales. Whether it’s Noel Gallagher’s guitar and Merry Clayton’s testifying shouts infusing the appropriately titled “Up & Up” with bristling energy and soul, or Tove Lo’s sugary vocals bringing sweetness to the willowy “Fun”, this remains identifiably a group effort.
However, the record will not be available on Spotify – and you can probably guess why.
Paltrow appears as a guest vocalist on one of the few ballads, “Everglow”, and the poetry flows. Hymn is Coldplay’s version of a party anthem, which sounds just like you’d expect it to: Chris Martin delivering lyrics like “Got me feeling drunk and high” in his signature falsetto over twinkling percussion, light-footed piano and bursts of horns. He also rhymes “special” with “celestial”.
