Jürgen Klopp happy to see Liverpool’s refound belief and enjoyment

‘We know a little about football and we work for a fantastic football club and we love this club because you can not be in Liverpool because of the weather. Maybe you can tell me about some other club in Germany! “Great play of Liverpool, I have to recognise they played a fantastic game tonight”, he said”. “All the world is talking about ball possession, but we have to have a plan for when we have the ball and when we don’t”.

This would be a fine move for Liverpool, who could do with more quality in midfield after Steven Gerrard’s exit at the end of last season.

Sturridge’s two goals in the thrashing of Southampton gave his manager a taste of his finishing prowess and more importantly for Klopp, the England frontman came through the encounter without suffering any major ill-effects. The Reds, of course, have actually been better on the road than they have at Anfield with the Saints, Manchester City and defending champions Chelsea brushed aside in their travels – at risk of sounding hyperbolic, this is one is in the bag, isn’t it? They hammered Southampton despite having a number of senior players either on the bench or watching at home.

“It looks like, from the outside, they are not trying, they are not running, they are not working”.

The feeling took some time to really sink into the jaded hearts of Liverpool fans who have been battered by years of disappointment, but after the last two weeks, it’s hard to deny it anymore: Liverpool are fun again.

“You have to know your responsibility as a football player”.

The 22-year-old has started City’s last three Premier League games and turned in an eye-catching display in front of a global television audience in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal. If we lost another centre-half he would be the next option as he can play there.

Liverpool are now 6th in the Premier League, four points off 6th spot and six points from the top.

LISTENING to the preamble before Liverpool’s demolition of Southampton at St Mary’s in the Capital One Cup this week I heard a statement that makes my blood boil. It’s easy to see why – winning only twice in 14-games, sitting second from bottom and having seen an astounding 30-goals fly past them, the Magpies aren’t the side that you remember. Klopp now has to decide whether to reward those who shone in midweek or recall the likes of James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke, all of whom are well rested.

“But in the next two, we conceded eight”.

Klopp has won seven of his last 11 matches as a Liverpool boss. OK, that’s how I play tennis but that’s my problem. We’ve done it three times!
