Lynch, the former Northern Illinois star in his rookie season with Eskimos, scored on a third-down play in a 20-degree chill.

Shavers’ first touchdown of the game capped off a 10-play, 88-yard drive by the Eskimos.

The Eskimos won the Canadian Football League title for the first time since 2005.

The game was a disappointment for Redblacks fans who thought their team might be crowned champions at the end of their second season.

“It’s not anger it’s disappointment”, said Ottawa head coach Rick Campbell.

“It’s not about what I’ve been through personally, it’s what our team has been through”, Reilly said.

The Eskimos’ QB wasn’t as sharp as he wanted to be, but he hurt the Redblacks more with his legs, extending more than a couple of drives with draw plays and scrambles. I always feel like I could have done a little bit more, but right now we have to learn from this and come back next year, and let’s take it one step further.

10 – The winning streak by the Eskimos en route to the Grey Cup; eight straight to finish the regular season followed by the West Final win over Calgary and Sunday’s Grey Cup. That’s part of what you sign up for when you’re in this business. And then there’s Jones, who the Saskatchewan Roughriders are reportedly interested in speaking to regarding their vacant head coach/GM positions. “It’s disappointing not to come out with a victory, especially when you fought so hard and got this thing turned around with all these young guys in this locker-room”, Burris said afterwards.

That brought the ball to the Ottawa 10-yard line.

If DPI can be called anytime a defender touches a potential receiver, let’s go back and throw a bunch of flags in those situations, too!

What bothers me so much is that both teams played great, yet – for better or for worse – they are sharing the headlines with video replay.

“We’re disappointed, (but) happy at least the Loggersports Team was able to get here”, he said. “That’s how it transpired”.

But after earning a single on Sean Whyte’s missed 45-yard field goal, Edmonton took its first lead of the game on Shavers’ touchdown. Edmonton managed two sacks and held when Ottawa got the ball back with 3:12 left in the game and protecting a six-point lead. But the Eskimos outscored them 26-7 the rest of the way, scoring the winning touchdown with three minutes 22 seconds remaining for a 26-20 win at Investors Group Field. Chris Milo booted a 35-yard field goal to give the Redblacks a 19-17 lead.

“We had opportunities to turn the tide and we just didn’t make the plays, whether it was me missing a throw or making a play or something”, Burris said. “For them to come up and get to see us win a championship and be involved in it, that’s what it means to me”.
