The pair competed against Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and his partner, Sharna Burgess, and a soldier, Alek Skarlatos, and his partner, Lindsay Arnold.
“Dancing with the Stars” aired its first season in 2005. After sitting out Season 21, longtime judge Len Goodman announced on Twitter that he’s more than ready to return to the show.
Irwin and Hough brought the house down with their emotional performance.
Bindi Irwin, whom judges loved and called the show’s heart, and her partner, Derek Hough, won the Mirrorball Trophy on “Dancing with the Stars”. “On Monday, Irwin and Hough danced to “Footprints in the Sand” in memory of her dad, whose picture was projected on the big screen behind her”.
After being crowned the victor, Irwin thanked the crowd and described the last three months on the show as life changing. “I love you.” The family photo contained Bindi, her father Steve, her mother Terri, and her little brother Robert.
After performing the Viennese waltz again, that dance where Bindi was blindfolded, the crowd erupted in applause, further concreting why the 17-year-old deserved to take home the mirror ball!
As much as the win has meant to her, Irwin told Us: “Honestly I’m excited to get back into my khakis and be with the animals again”.
Fans inspired by Irwin took to social media to congratulate her.
“This entire experience has truly changed my life”.
