Boko Haram men killed, 900 hostages rescued in Cameroon

The militants have expanded attacks into Cameroon, Chad and Niger – countries contributing troops to a regional force meant to wipe out the extremists.
Assomo said also that 100 Boko Haram members had been killed in the process.
The Nigerian military has however not confirmed the incident.
The operation resulted in the neutralisation of over a hundred jihadists, some 900 hostages were freed and an important consignment arms and munitions as well as the white and black flags of the Islamic state were seized.
“Recently, countries in the region have been stepping up their fight against Boko Haram”.
FOLLOWING the arrest of a child for alleged involvement in terrorism, the Nigerian Army has called for thorough screening of people seeking refuge in camps housing internally displaced persons (IDPs).
“The Boko Haram fighters are not as organised as they used to be, and training those many fighters take time”.
The armed group is using Cameroon’s impoverished far north to stockpile supplies and recruits until the government cracked down previous year.
“Cameroon’s army spokesman said its forces acted with the backing of the regional task force, which became operational in August but has yet to launch joint raids”, the wire service reports.

Issa Tchiroma Bakary, Cameroon’s minister of communications, added that the militants were found in the Sambisa Forest, which straddles north east Nigeria and Cameroon’s Far North Region.
