Grey Cup win thrills Edmonton Eskimo fans
Jordan Lynch scored on a 1-yard sneak with 3:22 left and the Edmonton Eskimos rallied to beat the Ottawa Redblacks 26-20 on Sunday night for their 14th Grey Cup title.

Eskimos receiver Shamawd Chambers was the game’s Most Valuable Canadian with two catches for 49 yards.
For two years, the Algonquin Loggersports Team has attended every Redblacks’ home game, celebrating touchdowns by revving up their chainsaws and slicing through a log emblazoned with the CFL team’s logo.
After a field goal drew the Eskimos within 10 and the defense picked Burris off, Reilly hit Adarius Bowman for a 23-yard touchdown in the corner of the end zone to help make it a 13-10 game. The Redblacks had a 13-0 lead before the Eskimos had run their first offensive play, quarterback Henry Burris putting together an impressive opening drive then taking advantage of a fumbled kickoff to post a second touchdown.
The Eskimos won their 14th Grey Cup, but their first since 2005.
First the Redblacks coach quipped his 40-year-old quarterback will play another 10 years before giving Burris a shout-out for singing a verse from Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start The Fire”.
A white horse ridden by Karyn Drake dashes down the sidelines after Stampeders touchdowns, and last appeared in the Grey Cup during Calgary’s victory over Hamilton at BC Place in 2014. This was Edmonton’s record-setting 25th appearance at the big game (Only Toronto (16) has won more).
When Edmonton’s offence finally got the ball, they were a little slow to warm up.
Hearty Grey Cup fans bundled in their seats, prepared for a relatively mild November evening at around -5C in Winnipeg – a city better known for its frigid temperatures and high wind-chills. Now the question remains how long he’ll remain with reports the Saskatchewan Roughriders will ask permission to speak with Jones about their vacant head coach and GM positions.
Ottawa punted with less than three minutes to go, giving Edmonton a chance to kill the game on the ground. It’s not that either team needs additional motivation for a Grey Cup game. Chris Milo added a convert, single and two field goals.
He had 123 rushing yards during his first three games (including the West Division final) but impressed the Eskimos’ coaching staff with his knowledge of his blocking assignments.
Ottawa got the ball back and made a decision to punt with around two minutes left…
The Esks were also unsuccessful on a two-point convert attempt on Shavers’ TD.
Patrick Lavoie and Earnest Jackson had Ottawa’s touchdowns.

Once the most watched event of the year on Canadian television, the Grey Cup broadcast has been missing from the country’s major networks since 2008.
