Rahm Emanuel TEARS Into Politico Reporter Who Spilled Vacation Plans
Despite his anger about Allen’s question and the revelation of his holiday destination, the mayor spoke briefly about the upcoming trip and discussed the benefits of his children learning about other cultures and ways of life. Emanuel revealed the normally secret (in advance) destination of his yearly family vacation, in which Emanuel revealed to Allen during a backstage discussion before the event. “I really don’t appreciate that”.

“This year, if my wife doesn’t kill me now because of what you just did, we will take our kids to Cuba to be exposed to that culture, the same way they’ve been to India, the same way they’ve been to Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Chile and Vietnam”.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel was in the hot seat on Wednesday during a Politico interview with Mike Allen and Natasha Korecki, but Emanuel got a little hot himself when Allen brought up the mayor’s planned trip to Cuba over the holidays. “My family’s trips are my family”. Emanuel added. “So I’m expressing to you now publicly my displeasure”. Emanuel went on to say that he and his wife take his children each year to see another part of the world, like his own parents did when he was growing up. “Mayor of 3rd largest city!”, later said Politico’s Jake Sherman in Allen’s defense.
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders said Friday that any official involved with suppressing the release of a video of the shooting death of a black teen by a white Chicago police officer should be “held accountable” and, if necessary, resign.
Yet McCarthy’s departure has only redoubled the focus on Emanuel, and the mayor faced a new headache by Wednesday, when former State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez denied that her office had blocked release of the McDonald video, as city officials had maintained in explaining the year-long delay.
Allen then apologized and Emmanuel retorted, “I don’t know if you know this, it’s not going to work”. Emanuel finished by asking Allen for his cell number “because I’d like you to listen to Amy”.

It is notable, however, that in calling for a federal civil rights investigation of the Chicago Police Department, Clinton is starkly at odds with Emanuel, who has come out against such an inquiry.
