Local tree farmers prepare for busiest Christmas season in years

But Church points out that he has done things differently since his father ran the Christmas tree farm, like adding variety to his tree stock and carrying pre-cut trees stored in water until being purchased. After World War II, local farmers began planting the trees on lower elevation acreage (between 3,000 and 4,500 feet) that was unsuitable for other crops. Also, the tree should be a nice dark green color, not faded.

Christmas trees sold in America hail largely from Oregon, North Carolina, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Washington and Canada.

“I simply wanted to change up how Christmas was done”, said Saucedo of Campbell.
