Cyber Monday shatters online record with 125 million Americans shopping online
The report shows how each retailer shifted discounts and moved relative prices over the course of 10 days as they sought to win customers and compete against each other on the days leading up to Black Friday, throughout Black Friday weekend and Cyber Monday.

And the trend is clear.
Holiday purchasing patterns are shifting as more spending moves online and away from traditional stores.
While IBM’s report does not give a total dollar amount for Monday’s online sales, it does say the company saw a 17.8 percent increase from 2014. Around 103 million people shopped online between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday.
Shopping using mobile devices accounted for 26 per cent of total online sales, up from 19 per cent a year earlier, Adobe’s report said. Additionally, retailers grew their sales by 24.1 percent year over year on Amazon, 24.3 percent year over year on Google Shopping and 2.6 percent year over year on eBay.
“PayPal data shows that the holiday shopping season now starts on Sept 30th, two months before Black Friday”, Anuj Nayar, Sr.
Bigger-than-expected discounts and strong demand for electronics and toys made Cyber Monday the biggest ever day for online sales in the United States, according to the Adobe Digital Index report.
One of the big winners was Amazon, which sold 7.4 million items online to customers across the United Kingdom on Black Friday.
For most of the past decade, the Monday following Thanksgiving was the busiest day for web shopping as U.S. consumers returned to work and used their offices’ fast internet connections to buy holiday gifts.
The Social Studio has been tracking conversations about Black Friday and Cyber Monday on social media. Cross-border consumers are continuing to shop online from their favorite American retailers and brands this holiday season while taking advantage of special deals and seasonal promotions, according to data from Pitney Bowes. Also, previous year brick-and-mortar retailers found that Thanksgiving Day sales occurred at the expense of those on Black Friday.

Cyber Monday proved to be a record-breaker for online retailing. Retailers – traditional and electronic – are now offering bargains earlier than ever. Apple iOS devices drove $575 million of mobile sales, while Android devices drove $219 million in mobile sales. Amazon’s AMZN Cyber Monday revenue increased 21.1% from a year ago, according to ChannelAdvisor. Tablets came in at 12.4% of sales.
