Arsenal’s Ozil in form of his life

The German global has been in outstanding form for the Gunners this season and notched up his twelfth assist of the campaign in the 3-1 win against Sunderland on Saturday.

Mesut Ozil is in simply ludicrous form for Arsenal this season and many have suggested that the Arsenal playmaker is a serious contender for the player of the season award. I’m in a good way and playing really well. I believe in myself.

“I would say that I have also played really well in other seasons”.

Arsenal fans have waited four years to see Joel Campbell step into a playmaking role for the English Premier League club, but finally the 23-year-old Costa Rican striker is starting to come through.

“It will be very hard”, said Ozil as he reflected on the stunning 3-2 win Olympiakos registered at the Emirates in September. Olympiakos can play good football and we saw that at The Emirates. It’s achieveable to win there by two goals and that’s what we want to do. The goal was his second in Premier League play and has shown himself to be a valuable piece of the Gunners as they prepare to navigate through the busy holiday fixture season. We have to be good in defence. We have to really give everything so that we can achieve this and get through to the next round. The aim is to go in ahead at half-time and then we will know everything is possible. If they score a goal then we have to score three goals, but we know that we can score goals.

Arsenal now sit third in Group F, three points behind Olympiakos, and they need to beat their Greek hosts by the same or a superior scoreline to that reverse defeat if they’re to advance in the competition. “And I hope I can help the team with a good performance on the night”. Maybe I didn’t score as many goals but it wasn’t as if I have had bad seasons.
