Four Palestinians have been killed after attacking Israeli soldiers in three separate incidents in the occupied West Bank, Israel says.

Later, in the settlement of Ofra, in the northern West Bank, an attacker drove a auto at Israeli soldiers, injuring two of them.

Speaking on public radio on Friday, the driver said the windscreen of the auto was riddled with bullets, but neither he nor his passengers were harmed.

Hours after the attack in Hebron, a soldier was stabbed and wounded near Ramallah, before troops shot his assailant dead, the military said.

The Israeli army, for its part, said there have been over 100 attacks by Palestinians against Israelis, majority in Jerusalem.

Still, Erdan said, “the Shin Bet (security service) and police made progress in this investigation in recent months and we are doing everything in order that we might also have evidence that would allow prosecution and indictments”.

He said they were hurt by shelling, but the army said its forces only fired at one man who entered the no-go zone close to the border fence.

“The forces responded, shooting the attacker and resulting in his death”.

More than half of the Palestinians have been alleged assailants.

The Palestinian man wearing a yellow “press” vest and a T-shirt identifying him as journalist stabbed and wounded the soldier in the latest in a monthlong spate of attacks.

The IDF Spokespersons Unit reported that the gunman exited his vehicle on the approach to the checkpoint, and opened fire on the soldiers. The others died in clashes with Israeli forces.

Since October 1, nearly daily attacks and clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers and violence between Palestinians and Israeli settlers have killed 109 Palestinians (including an Israeli Arab), 17 Israelis, an American and an Eritrean, according to an AFP count.

Israeli officials privately accept that the violence is likely to continue. Discouragement rooted in decades of Israeli occupation has been attributed by the Palestinian leaders.
