No additional information on Weiland’s cause of death has been released; that information will come from the local medical examiner.

Meanwhile, members of the rock band Stone Temple Pilots issued a statement through a spokeswoman on the death of their former lead singer, who had been on tour with his new band, the Wildabouts. “You were gifted beyond words”.
Stone Temple Pilots were MTV darlings and scored a Grammy for best hard rock performance in 1994 for the single “Plush“. According to his LinkedIn profile, Black is also the manager of the Los Angeles club/venue the Viper Room, a position he’s held since 2002. Stone Temple Pilots had a messy origin – Scott Weiland and bassist Robert DeLeo met at a Black Flag concert, and realised they were both dating the same woman.
Weiland is survived by two children with his ex-wife, Mary Forsberg, who wrote in her 2009 memoir “Fall to Pieces” that there was a time when the couple, while beset by drug addiction, took a limousine together to rehab.
While the Bloomington Police Department continues its investigation into the tragic and untimely death of Scott Weiland, his fans, friends, family and fellow musicians continue to mourn. His band was supposed to perform at the Medina Ballroom that night, but the show was cancelled.
Weiland was found dead on his tour bus yesterday, but his underlying cause of death has still yet to be determined.
“I’m still on the verge all the time“, he told the newspaper.
In the message, posted online, the stars praise the 48 year old’s talents, while also acknowledging the drug demons which led to his dismissal from the group in 2013. “So sad”, he said. Scott Weiland also released four solo albums during his music career. In 1995, he was arrested after deputies found him carrying crack and heroin.

He had battled substance abuse problems for years, but said he was sober. The brawny mix of Beatles and Bowie found on the bittersweet psych-pop hit firmly established once and for all that there was far more depth to Stone Temple Pilots than anyone had expected.
