A bank robbery suspect armed with a straight razor was killed in a police-involved shooting on Alton Road in Miami Beach Saturday morning, officials said.
The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating the shooting. Art show spokeswoman Sara Fitzmaurice said in a statement that “the attack was an isolated incident that was immediately secured”. “Our thoughts are with the victim”. One of the women pulled out an X-Acto knife and repeatedly stabbed her victim in the neck and arms.
Miami Beach police said on Sunday that, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Winesett was considered an escapee from the prisoner rehabilitation center at the time of the attempted robbery. The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The perpetrator, who was not initially named by the police, was arrested at the scene of the crime, literally seconds after it happened. When the stabbing occurred, onlookers thought they were witnessing performance art, and thought the police tape was marking off an area of the convention center as part of an art installation. The injuries were non-life threatening, however it caused a substantial loss of blood.
The Miami Herald spoke to Miami artist Naomi Fisher, who heard sounds of an altercation and later saw a woman being wheeled away by paramedics: “A guy walked up to me and said, ‘I thought I saw a performance, and I thought it was fake blood, but it was real blood'”. “It’s awful … I’m so freaked out”. When told by a reporter about the stabbing, they expressed shock.

Sculptor Gregg Hill told the Herald that people were told a sculpture fell on the woman and went back to looking at the exhibits. When handcuffed, Zhao reportedly said that “I had to watch her bleed” and “I had to kill her and two more”. “It was calm and everyone was milling around and talking”.
