It marks the fourth-straight bowl game for the Golden Gophers who are in search of their first bowl victory since a 20-14 win against Alabama in the Music City Bowl after the 2004 season.

The Gophers haven’t faced Central Michigan since 1987.

CMU went 7-5 overall this season and 6-2 in the Mid-American Conference, but the Chippewas have excelled against tough competition with all of their losses coming by a combined 41 points.

The Quick Lane Bowl is fairly new to the bowl party.

This year’s edition of the game will take place on December 28 at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Minnesota entered college football’s Selection Sunday knowing they were headed to a bowl with a losing record, but unsure which one. He was able to gash IL and Purdue’s soft defenses for 350 total rushing yards in two Minnesota wins, but stronger teams like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio State found a way to hold him to fewer than three yards per carry.

This year, the bowl was supposed to feature teams from the ACC and Big Ten, but the Atlantic Coast Conference did not have enough schools to fill the bowl and CMU was chosen as the backup representative.

Here were the top April scores from the pool of potential 5-7 replacements: Nebraska (985), Missouri and Kansas State (976), Minnesota and San Jose State (975), IL and Rice (973).
