After an undefeated run through the ACC title game, Clemson captured that final No. 1 spot, and fan were clearly excited about the news, as you can see from this video posted to the football team’s official Twitter account.

Alabama opened this season with a 35-17 victory over Big Ten team Wisconsin at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys and the Cotton Bowl since the 2009 season.
Reaching the national title game is the top prize for the playoff semifinals, but this year’s matchups feature a little extra at stake in both games. The Spartans’ four-game bowl winning streak matches the longest in Big Ten history, and is the longest active streak in the FBS. The Outback Bowl, Belk Bowl and Music City Bowl appear to be their most likely destinations. They finish their regular season with three significant wins over Notre Dame, Florida State, and North Carolina in the ACC Championship.
Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio celebrates with Montae Nicholson after Michigan State defeated Iowa 16-13 to win the Big Ten championship NCAA college football game Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, in Indianapolis. With Clemson getting the top seed, its semifinal will be the Orange Bowl in Miami. The Sooners were thought to be doomed by a midseason loss to Texas, but have won seven straight by a combined score of 364-136 to get into the CFP mix. Both finished among the nation’s leaders in passer rating defense, with Clemson at No. 7 and Oklahoma at No. 12.
“Last year was last year”, Oklahoma wide receiver Sterling Shepard told ESPN on its selection show.
Meanwhile, the Alabama-Michigan State matchup gives the Cotton Bowl a demolition derby of a game.
The winners will play for the national championship on January 11 in Glendale, Arizona. The Spartans have an eleven point margin of victory for the 2015 season, the slimmest margin of any of the four teams. Alabama lost to eventual national champion Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl. Clemson and Alabama were shoo-ins, too, as long as they weren’t upset Saturday.
The 2015 College Football Playoff has been set and it’s going to be great. The Spartans are making their first playoff appearance and haven’t been ranked this high since 2013. Three weeks later, the struggling Texas Longhorns pulled off one of season’s biggest upsets against Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry. 5 and 6, respectively, in the final committee rankings.
Alabama: Won six games against ranked opponents, the most by any team….
The four teams in line for the playoffs appear to be Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma and Michigan State.
